چکیده

Previous research on children’s categorizations has suggested that children use perceptual and conceptual knowledge to generalize object names. Especially, the relation between ontological categories and linguistic categories appears to be a critical cue to learning of object categories. However, its underlying mechanism remains unclear. proposes a connectionist model that can acquire ontological knowledge by learning linguistic categories of entities. The results suggest a possibility that linguistic cues help children attend specific perceptual properties.

A mechanism of ontological boundary shifting

Past research on children’s categorizations has suggested that children use perceptual and conceptual knowledge to generalize object names. Especially, some researches suggested that the relation between ontological categories and linguistic categories is a critical cue to categorize objects. However, this mechanism has not been specified. This paper reports new insights to reveal children’s ca...

The Subjective and Corporeal Perception of the Cinematographic Frame According to Kantian Viewpoint

The cinematographic frame is a boundary which separates the image from the external world. From an ontological viewpoint which dates back to Greek philosophy, the boundary of a thing separates it from other things, thus leading to its ontological independence from other things. But, according to this point of view, the being of things as external objects is considered to be free from the impact...

Computational modeling of dynamic decision making using connectionist networks

In this research connectionist modeling of decision making has been presented. Important areas for decision making in the brain are thalamus, prefrontal cortex and Amygdala. Connectionist modeling with 3 parts representative for these 3 areas is made based the result of Iowa Gambling Task. In many researches Iowa Gambling Task is used to study emotional decision making. In these kind of decisio...

Optimal Operation of Microgrids Under Demand Side Management

One of the major problem in the optimal operation of the power system is optimal operation of microgrid with regard to the Demand-side-management. From one side, demand-side-management programs  reduce the operating costs of the power system and on the other hand, the implementation of these programs requires a financial incentive policies. In this paper, optimal operation of microgrid with dem...

Interference effects in early infant visual memory and categorisation: A connectionist model

Young infants show unexplained asymmetries in the exclusivity of categories formed on the basis of visually presented stimuli. They will also, on some occasions display retroactive interference when shown a succession of visual stimuli whereas on other occasions no interference is found. We describe a connectionist model that shows similar exclusivity asymmetries when categorising the same stim...
